Legasum Help Open Legasum

Help / Getting started

Set up your company with the setup wizard

Walk through the four setup steps - your business, your branches, your team and the finish.

The first time you sign in without a company, Legasum opens a setup wizard with four steps: Your business, Branches, Team and All set. If you refresh the page part-way through, it returns you to the step you were on.

If you were invited

If someone has already invited you, the first screen is Welcome to Legasum with a list of Pending Invitations. Select Accept to join that company, or Decline. To start your own company instead, select Create a new company instead.

Step 1: Your business

  1. Choose the Business type: Sole Proprietorship, Partnership Firm, LLP, Private Limited Company, Public Limited Company, One Person Company, Trust / Society / Non-profit, or Other / Not registered yet. A short hint appears under your choice.
  2. Enter the name. The label changes with the type, for example Business Name, Firm Name or Company Name. It appears on your invoices and is visible to your team.
  3. Pick your Industry, Country, Company Size and Registration Stage.
  4. Optionally add your Website.
  5. Select Continue.

When you pick a country, a note shows the currency and the tax name Legasum will use. You can change these later in the company settings (open My Companies and select Manage).

Step 2: Branches

A branch is one of your locations. Each branch gets the tools that fit what it does.

  1. Choose Single branch or Multiple branches.
  2. Name each branch. A single branch can be left blank and is then called "Main Branch". With several branches, every branch needs its own, different name.
  3. In What does this branch need?, switch on everything that branch runs. A library with a cafe, for example, gets both the Library and Restaurant menus. Legasum suggests a starting choice from the industry you picked, and you can change it.
  4. For more branches, select Add another branch. Remove appears on a branch that is not saved yet, once you have more than two branches.
  5. Select Continue.

If one branch fails to save, the others are kept. Fix the branch marked in red and select Continue again. You can add or change branches later in Branches; see Branch types and what they add to your menu.

Step 3: Team

Type a colleague's email and select Send Invite. You can send several. The Share invite link box is marked "Coming soon", so use email invites for now. Select Skip for now if you would rather do this later in Employees.

Step 4: All set

Select Go to Dashboard. Your company is ready.

Good to know

  • Each company has its own books, team and branches. You can create or join more than one and switch between them; see Switch company and branch.
  • The wizard needs you to be signed in. If you are not, it sends you to the sign-in page.
