QR codes and online booking
Print a QR code for a branch, and see what customers do on the public booking page it opens.
A QR code opens a public booking page that needs no login. Customers can book an appointment, join a queue, or both, depending on how your appointments and queues are set up.
Get a QR code for a branch
- Open Service Bookings > QR Codes (QR Codes).
- Under Branch QR codes, each branch shows its name and a QR code. If you picked a branch in the sidebar, only that branch is shown.
- Click Copy to copy the link behind the code, then share it or use it wherever you create your printed material.
Generating a code needs the QR Create permission; viewing needs View. Without Create you will see "you do not have permission to generate its QR code".
Other kinds of code
Open Generate a QR code (manual - any target, custom expiry) to make a code for a Company, Branch, Professional, Service, Queue or Event / session. Choose the type, enter the Target id, optionally set Expires after (days, optional), click Check target to confirm it, then Generate QR code. Codes made this way appear under QR codes generated this session, with Copy, Revoke and Revoke & regenerate. That list is kept only in your browser and clears on reload.
Revoke codes
Revoke stops an old printed code working. Revoke every QR code for this company (in the red card) stops all of them. Revoking needs the QR Edit permission and asks you to confirm.
What customers see
When a customer scans the code, the page opens at your website address under /book/.
- The title is the branch or service name. If nothing can be booked right now, a message explains, for example that booking is closed outside opening hours.
- Book an appointment: choose a Location (if there are several), tick one or more services, optionally pick a professional, choose a Date and a Time, and enter Your name, Phone and Email. Then click Book appointment (or Book 2 services, and so on).
- Join the queue (shown with "walk-ins welcome" when allowed): tick one or more open queues and click Join queue. Queues that are shut show "(closed right now)".
- Results are shown per item: "confirmed", or the reason it failed. For a queue the customer sees their position, how many are ahead, and an estimated wait. Refresh updates it.
If the link has expired, been revoked or points to something inactive, the customer sees "This link is not available".
Good to know
- Online bookings appear in your normal Appointments list. Depending on your booking settings they may show as Pending until staff confirm them. See Booking and managing appointments.
- If the customer enters a phone or email you already have, the booking uses that existing customer; otherwise a new customer named after what they typed is created. With no details it is recorded as a walk-in customer.
- Customers only ever see their own queue position and a count of people ahead, never other customers' details.
- Staff work the line on the Queue board.
