Use the seat map

See which seats are free or taken for a shift and day, and give, move or block seats.

Open Seat Map from the Library menu. It shows every seat of the library for one shift on one day.

Read the map

  1. Pick a shift using the buttons at the top. Only active shifts are shown. If there are none, add one in Seats & Shifts first.
  2. Pick the Day. It starts on today.
  3. The counts show Free, Taken and, if any, Not available.

Each seat is a tile with its label and either the student's name or its status: Free, Taken, Blocked, Maintenance or Out of service. If the library has rooms, seats are grouped by room, each with its own "free of" count. Seats not in a room appear under Not in a room.

Work on a seat

Select a tile to open its panel.

  • Free seat: select Give this seat to a student and complete the form. The shift and seat are already filled in. See Give a seat.
  • Taken seat: you see the student, phone, plan and end date. Choose another free seat in Move to seat... and select Move, or select End membership to free the seat. Renew or take payment takes you to the Memberships page.
  • Block a free seat: select Block, Maintenance or Out of service. Later select the seat and Make available to put it back.

Moving, ending, giving and blocking need the Library Edit permission. With View only you can look but not change.

Good to know

  • You cannot block a seat that a student still holds. Move the student first.
  • A blocked seat is blocked for every shift, not just the one you are looking at.
  • The map shows who holds a seat in the selected shift only. The same seat can be taken by someone else in another shift.
