Run the daily queue and visits
Give patients tokens, check in booked patients, and move each visit from waiting to completed.
The Queue page (Queue) is the clinic's front desk for today. Each visit gets a token number, one per visit per day, starting at 1.
Today at a glance
Four counts sit at the top: Waiting, With the doctor, Seen today and Booked, not arrived. If you manage several clinic branches, pick the clinic from the Clinic selector above the page.
Add a walk-in patient to the queue
- Under Add a patient to the queue, type a name, phone or patient number and click Find.
- If the patient is not listed, click Register a new patient first.
- Click Choose next to the patient.
- Pick the Doctor (or leave Any doctor) and describe What is the problem?
- Click Add to queue. A message shows the token, for example "is in the queue with token 4".
A patient can be in the queue only once at a time.
Check in a booked patient
People with an appointment for today appear under Booked for today, with the time and doctor. Click Check in to give them a token. The visit is linked to the appointment, and the booking is completed automatically when the visit is completed. Appointments are described in Booking and managing appointments.
The visit statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Waiting | Has a token, waiting to be seen |
| With the doctor | Consultation has started |
| Completed | Finished; the clinical record is locked |
| Cancelled | Visit cancelled |
In the Today's queue table, a waiting visit has Start (begin the consultation), Cancel and Open. A completed visit that has not yet been paid shows Not billed.
Good to know
- The queue controls need the Clinic Edit permission; with only View you can look but not change anything.
- Completing a visit requires a diagnosis. See Consultation and prescriptions.
- Payment is covered in Charges and billing.
