How the Library module works
What a library is in Legasum, who can see the Library menu, and the permissions it needs.
The idea in one minute
In Legasum a library is a branch whose type is Library. A student does not book a seat by the hour. Instead, the student is given one seat in one shift for a whole plan, and a fee is recorded for that plan. The pieces you will set up and use are:
- Rooms (optional): areas such as a first floor and a second floor, each with its own seats.
- Seats: the numbered desks of the library.
- Shifts: daily time windows such as Morning 06:00 - 12:00. One seat can serve several students, one per shift.
- Students: the people who attend. They belong to your company, so the same student can attend more than one of your libraries.
- Memberships: a student, a seat, a shift, a plan, its dates, the fee and what has been paid.
When the Library menu appears
The Library menu shows in the left menu only when the branch you are working in is a library, or is a branch that has Library added as one of the things it runs. To create one, go to Branches, add a branch and choose the type Library. A branch can run more than one business, for example a library with a cafe.
If your company has several libraries, a Library picker appears at the top of each Library page. Choosing one also changes the branch picker in the sidebar.
Permissions
Access is controlled by the Library permission on each user's role:

Ask your administrator to adjust roles in Roles if a button is missing.

Good to know
- Fees are recorded, not charged. The module keeps the fee, what has been paid and what is still due, but it does not take online payments.
- The Library pages are only available once the module has been switched on for your Legasum account. If you see "Library is not available yet", contact your administrator.
