Open a lead and convert it to a client

Update a lead, keep notes and files, assign it to a colleague, and turn a qualified lead into a customer.

Select a lead's name in Leads to open it.

What you see

The top of the page shows the name, status, contact details, source and who the lead is assigned to. The page has three tabs:

  • Overview: the lead's Details (email, phone, source, lead score, tags, notes and any custom fields), the Assignment box, Marketing Consent, and an Origin note if the lead came from a lead form.
  • Activity: a timeline of everything that happened to the lead (created, status changes, assignments, notes and conversion).
  • Attachments: files you upload for this lead. Use Upload, and the bin icon to delete one.

Update a lead

  1. Select Edit.
  2. Change the first or last name, email, phone, Status, Lead score (0-100, manual), notes or custom fields.
  3. Select Save Changes.

Assign a lead

In the Assignment box, pick a person from Assigned to. It takes effect straight away and is recorded on the Activity tab. Choose Unassigned to clear it.

Add a note

On the Activity tab, type in the note box (for example a call summary or next step) and select Add Note.

Convert a lead to a client

  1. Set the lead's status to QUALIFIED. The Convert to Client button only appears for qualified leads.
  2. Select Convert to Client and confirm. This cannot be undone.
  3. The app creates a new customer with the lead's name, email, phone and tags, and adds the lead's contact details as the primary contact. You are taken to the new customer's record.

The lead's status becomes CONVERTED and its page shows a badge saying a client already exists. A converted lead's status can no longer be changed.

Good to know

  • Converting does not create an opportunity. Add one yourself from Opportunities.
  • The move to CONVERTED is only possible through this button, not by editing the status.
