Take orders from the floor
Seat a party, add items to the order, and move, merge, split or void orders.
The Floor shows every table as a coloured tile. An open order is called a tab. It belongs to one table, or to nobody for a takeaway. You need the Restaurant POS Edit permission to take orders; with View only you can look.
Read the floor
Along the top are counts for each table status: Free, Occupied, Reserved, Cleaning and Blocked. Each tile shows the table label, its status, the number of seats and, if it has an open order, the running total. Tables are grouped under their floor.
Seat a party and start an order
- Select a Free (or Reserved) table tile.
- Enter the number of Guests. It cannot be more than the table's seats.
- Select Seat party. The order screen opens and the table becomes Occupied.
For a takeaway, select New takeaway order at the top right of the floor. Open takeaway orders are listed at the bottom of the floor page.
Add items
On the order screen, the Menu is on the left and the Order on the right.
- Search the menu by name or code, or just tap an item to add it.
- To add a request for the kitchen, type it into Note for the kitchen (next item) before tapping the item, for example "no onions".
Each line shows its quantity, name, note and whether it is Sent to the kitchen or Not sent yet. The Subtotal (before tax) is at the bottom. Next, send the order to the kitchen.
Change an order
- Void on a line removes that item. It stays visible, crossed out.
- Move table (table orders only) moves the party to a free table that is big enough for the guests.
- Merge (table orders only) pulls the open orders of other tables into this one.
- Separate check: tick the box beside some items and select Separate check to move them onto a new order at the same table, so they can be paid separately. You cannot move all of the items.
- Void order cancels the whole order after you confirm. Nothing is billed, tickets still in progress are cancelled and the table becomes free.
Change a table's status by hand
Select a table tile. Depending on its status you can use Mark free, Reserve, Needs cleaning, Block, Mark clean or Unblock. A table with an open order cannot be changed this way, and a table becomes occupied only by seating a party.
Good to know
- Reserve is just a status marker so staff can see a table is spoken for. The module does not have a bookings list.
- After a bill is paid, the table goes to Cleaning until someone marks it clean.
- Not in this version: course firing, splitting a bill by amount, service charge and tips, and QR ordering.
