Set up floors, tables and the menu

Create the restaurant branch, add floors and tables, and make sure your menu items exist.

Before you start

In Legasum a restaurant is a branch whose type is Restaurant. The Restaurant menu appears in the left menu only when the branch you are working in is a restaurant, or is a branch that has Restaurant added as one of the things it runs (for example a library with a cafe). To create one, go to Branches, add a branch and choose the type Restaurant. If you have several restaurants, a Restaurant picker appears at the top of each page.

What you can do depends on the Restaurant POS permission on your role:

Add floors and tables

Open Tables Setup.

  1. In the Floors card, type a Floor or section name, for example Main Hall or Patio, and select Add floor. Floors are optional.
  2. In the Tables card, enter a Table label (for example T1), the number of Seats and, if you made floors, the Floor.
  3. Select Add table.

Table labels must be unique in the restaurant. The list shows each table with its floor and its current status. Hide and Show on a floor control whether it appears on the floor view. Remove and Restore on a table take it out of, or back into, use. A table that is occupied cannot be removed.

Your menu comes from Inventory

There is no separate menu screen. When a waiter adds items to an order, Legasum lists the active items in your company's catalogue, showing the name and sales price. To add a dish, create it as an item in Inventory items with a sales price and make sure it is active. Anything you switch off there disappears from the order screen.

Good to know

  • Without any floors, tables still work; they appear under the heading Tables on the floor view.
  • Billing uses the catalogue price of each item. The order screen shows prices before tax; tax is added when the bill is settled.
  • Next: take orders from the floor.
