Switch company and branch
Move between companies you own or have joined, and pick the branch you are working in.
Companies and branches
A company is a business you run in Legasum, with its own books, team and branches. A branch is one location of that company. You can belong to more than one company, and each company can have several branches.
Switch company from the left menu
- At the top of the left menu, find the Company box. It shows the name of the company you are in.
- Select the company name. A list titled Switch company opens, with a tick beside the current one.
- Select another company. Legasum reloads and opens that company's dashboard.
You can also use the round account icon at the top right and choose Switch Company.
Manage your companies
Select Manage in the Company box, or Manage companies at the bottom of the list, to open My Companies. It has two groups:
- Owned by you: companies you created.
- Shared with you: companies other people added you to. This group only appears if there are any.
Each company is a card showing how many branches it has. On a card you can:
- Select Select Company to switch to it. The company you are in shows You are working here.
- Select Manage branches (current company only) to open Branches.
- Select Manage to open that company's settings.
Inside the card, a tile for each branch shows its name, a Default badge if it is the default, the kinds of business it runs, and Inactive if it has been switched off. A company with no branches shows "No branches yet" with a link to add the first one.
Pick a branch
Once your company has branches, a Branch drop-down appears under the Company box.
- Open the drop-down.
- Choose a branch, or All branches. The default branch has "(Default)" after its name.
What changes when you pick a branch:
- The left menu follows the kind of branch. See Branch types and what they add to your menu.
- Branch-aware pages, such as the dashboard and Approvals, show only that branch and say "Showing the branch picked in the sidebar".
- New documents and bookings start with that branch already chosen, where the screen asks for a branch.
Your choice is remembered for each company in this browser. If a remembered branch is no longer available to you, Legasum goes back to All branches.
Good to know
- You do not see the Branch drop-down if you have no permission to view branches, or if the company has no branches yet.
- If your role is limited to certain branches, you only see those branches in the list, whatever you choose. See Roles and permissions.
- Adding or editing branches is done in Branches, not in the drop-down.
