Marketing overview and dashboard
How the Marketing area fits together, what the dashboard shows, and what to know about sending email.
The Marketing menu holds seven pages: Dashboard, Audiences, Suppression List, Email Templates, Campaigns, Journeys and Analytics. It appears only if your role may view Marketing and your company has the Marketing module on.
How it fits together
- Contacts are your clients and leads. Each one has a marketing consent status. See Consent, suppression and unsubscribing.
- An audience is a list of those contacts. See Audiences.
- An email template is reusable wording. See Email templates.
- A campaign sends one email to an audience. See Campaigns.
- A journey is an automatic sequence of waits, checks and actions for individual contacts. See Journeys.
- Analytics relate campaigns to sales. See Campaign analytics.
The dashboard
Open Marketing > Dashboard for a quick picture:
- Four counts: Audiences, Suppressed Contacts, Templates and Campaigns.
- Audience Sizes: for each audience its kind, Total, Marketable and Suppressed members.
- Campaigns by Status: how many campaigns are in each status.
- Delivery Metrics: a warning message when delivery cannot be measured, with a link to campaign analytics.
Who gets marketing email
A contact is marketable only when both are true:
- they have an explicit SUBSCRIBED consent on record, and
- they are not on the company-wide suppression list.
A contact with no consent record is treated as not subscribed. This applies to every campaign and every journey email, checked at the moment of sending.
Good to know
- Marketing is its own permission. If a page shows a permission error, ask your administrator.
- Dashboard numbers cover your whole company, not one audience.
