Send orders to the kitchen (KOT)
Fire items to the kitchen as tickets and move them from New to Served on the kitchen board.
A kitchen order ticket (KOT) is the slip the kitchen works from. In Legasum it is created from an order and shown on the Kitchen board. You need the Restaurant POS Edit permission to send tickets and to move them along; with View only you can watch the board.
Send items to the kitchen
- Open the order and add the items.
- Select Send to kitchen. The number in brackets is how many items have not been sent yet.
- A message confirms the ticket number, such as K-1. Ticket numbers restart each day for each restaurant.
All items that were not yet sent go on one ticket. If you add more later and press the button again, they go on a new ticket. If everything has already been sent, the button is disabled.
Work the kitchen board
The Kitchen page has three columns: New, Preparing and Ready, with the oldest tickets first. Each ticket shows its number, the table (or order for a takeaway), how long ago it was sent, the items with quantities and the notes.
- When the cook begins, select Start. The ticket moves to Preparing.
- When the food is ready, select Ready.
- When it reaches the guest, select Served. The ticket leaves the board.
The board refreshes itself every 15 seconds, so it can stay open on a kitchen screen.
Cancel a ticket
Select Cancel on a ticket that has not been served. Its items go back to the order as Not sent yet, so the waiter can send them again or void them.
Good to know
- Voiding a whole order cancels any of its tickets that are still New, Preparing or Ready.
- Items you void after sending still show on the ticket, crossed out.
- The time from sending to Ready is used in the reports as the kitchen's average preparation time.
- Next: settle the bill.
